Dear Friends,

We are pleased to announce the first annual Sacred Theater Festival will take place March 8-10, 2002 at the McDonough St. Studio Theater in Portsmouth, NH. The Sacred Theater Festival's mission is to promote the expression of the transcendental from diverse cultural and spiritual traditions through the performing arts.

This year's Festival will feature five shows during four performances and will include: The Seven Valleys (Quinn Arts) on Friday 3/8 at 8pm, Elephants and the Seven Sacred Directions (Maya Apfelbaum & Paul Sedgewick) and Mr. Raisin Head (Erika Batdorf) on Saturday 3/9 at 2pm, Walden (Bill George) on Saturday 3/9 at 8pm, and Journey to Heaven: The Shaker Way (Pontine Movement Theater) on Sunday 3/10 at 4pm.

Those attending the 4pm show Sunday are encouraged to bring a covered dish and stay for a pot-luck dnner afterwards which will conclude the Festival. All are welcome to attend the potluck at 6pm. In addition, each performance will include introductory remarks provided by representatives from various Faiths (Buddhism, Islam, Baha'i, Christianity and Judaism).

We are very excited about the Festival and the high calibre of each of the theatrical productions involved. We hope that the Festival will grow year to year and will encourage unity amongst religions and opportunities for insight into other cultural and religious traditions. To that end, we have formed a non-profit organization to foster the development of the Festival and encourage your support and involvement. If you are excited by the Festival and its goals and would like to be involved, please let us know.

See you at the Festival,

Wendy and Marty Quinn
